Mike Bayly

This website showcases articles I've written, projects I'm working on and my wider involvement in the football industry. For details of services offered, please contact me.

I'm a published author and feature writer, focusing on non-league football and football culture. My first book, Changing Ends: A Season In Non-League Football, was released in 2010. I've also written for When Saturday Comes, Two Hundred Percent and The Ball Is Round.

My latest project, 100 British Football Grounds To Visit Before You Die (working title), is underway, with a provisional release date of 2017.

Football Events & Initiatives

As Campaign Manager for National Non-League Day I've worked with The Football Association, The Football Supporters Federation, Supporters Direct, Kick It Out, The Department of Culture, Media & Sport and various members of parliament to raise the profile of semi-professional and amateur football.

On a wider level, I've attended and participated in national debates, workshops and supporter events. My most recent engagement was the CityAM roundtable on Financial Fair Play in Football, as a representative of StandAMF.

Club Involvement

I've been a committee member of Isthmian League club Wingate & Finchley since 2010, heading up their community projects and nationally recognised disability programme. This has enabled me to understand the workings of the semi-professional game and establish a strong network of industry contacts.

Through my football work, I've been fortunate enough to appear on Sky Sports News, talkSPORT, Premier Sports, BBC London News, BBC Radio 5 Non-League Football Show and in various independent productions. A couple of examples include a Non-League Day feature on BBC One and the ‘Life In The Non-League’ documentary

100 Grounds Project

What if there was a bucket list, a holy grail if you like, of the top 100 British grounds to visit before you die? Which ones would be on it? And for what reason? Then it occurred to me: why not find out and write a book about it?

Following the conclusion of a public vote featured on talkSPORT, the BBC Radio 5 Non-League Football Show, the Football Association website and in hundreds of club programmes, I will travel around the country, visiting every ground that made the final list. You can keep up-to-date with the book’s progress via my Twitter account.

Provisional release date is 2017.
